two full time jobs....

As i've posted before and not too long ago
I am preparing myself
and my body for the Insulin Pump.

Not only is it still a little scary to me,
as I feel there will be LOTS of unknown's
but
the prep work at making sure I am taking my blood sugar
every time I eat,
PLUS 2 hours after
and then with this new insulin
I am on
seriously..

oh and not to mention,
I am testing anywhere from 5-9 times a day right now
and use 6 different needles to inject insulin a DAY.

(I know some people reuse needles to save,
but it gives me that rotten pain in the stomach when I think about it)

I also, in addition to these extra testings and Insulin Injections
I am also having to write down
every.
single
thing.
I.
put.
in.
my.
mouth.

this includes amounts of items of course, like my sandwich yesterday
2/3 cup Buffalo Chicken Pieces
3 tomatoes
2 triangles of Provolone
approx. 1/2 Cup shredded lettuce
6 pickles
4 slice of cucumber
6inch Flatbread
7 pieces.slices of Green pepper

for ONE sandwich.
This doesn't include my drink or soup.

ugghh.. I know not EVERYONE can relate but this
is seriously a
FULL TIME JOB.

too bad I already have one, and bills can't pay themselves..

uggh..

Diabetes 365:Day 3

Today is my
third day of
Diabetes 365: Day 3.

Last night/this afternoon
I attempted to make this
Scandinavian Almond Cake
from my FIL's coworker.

Apparently this cake was AMAZING!

Well I made it first with baking sugar
as it called for 2.5 cups of sugar which to me
is INSANE.

Plus for anything I eat, I always put in
Splenda and not
real sugar.

Well, I made one and for the FIRST
time in my life
my
FIRST

cake never made it out of the pan.
EVEN with my amazing Cake Release.
Which, i will still use on every cake I make.

I figured it was just the sugar amount, too sweet.

Well I tried this sad cake to at least
taste it.

OH HECK....
no one told me when I try just TRY
something with that much sugar in it,
one.single.bite

makes my blood sugar
SKY ROCKET
in the 200's.

Yeah. Never Again.
Splenda it is from now on .

Oh, the second batch I made with splenda
AND
in cupcake form..

turned out great.

so:
Real Sugar: NO  Splenda: YES PLEASE!!!!

Diabetes 365

Today is my
2nd
day of the Diabetes 365 day project.

Basically, this group is for
Diabetes related pictures that takes you through
a whole year, or 365 days.

To do this challenge you need to take a photo
each day
and have it be something that relates
to you and your diabetes.
As we live each day, 365 days of
each year with this
we are able to show people
through some pictures
glimpses into
our
Diabetes Life.

You can follow me here for updates and also watch on my Flickr

Hope your ready to watch my journey
with Diabetes
each day of
2011!!!

Life=Weather

so lately,
I feel like the weather recently.

Sometimes I feel windy: Like my head is going to explode.
Either with deadlines, appointments for clients,
multiple schedule changes
all up in the air
not knowing what real next direction
i'm supposed to go in.

Don't worry, then my clients remind me where I was going.

then there's the Rain:

days that go by so slowly, like I woke up
and i have lived 400 years in 1 day.
okay, maybe i'm exaggerating
but i feel like sometimes I cram
entirely
too
many
things into one day.

then when the rain gets harder and is like pelting
your skin,
are those days i feel rushed
every.single.moment.
of the day.

then of course there are those days where
it starts out foggy, then snows a little,
then the sun comes out,
and at night time comes
a thunder storm.

Don't even get me started on that kind of day.
That is the day, i forget to bring my insulin,
forgot to charge my work cell phone.
loose my planner in the car
and my phone pretty much
BLOWS up from
phone calls.

What am i turning into comparing life to the weather. I guess i'm just ready for
some Spring action.
Sunny skies, warm weather,
plants, flowers
fresh veggies..

Between what my brain is doing, what my mind is thinking
how my body is reacting
to my speech jumbling all together and I can't remember what I was saying..

I think..

PHEW... One Day At A Time.

Am I alone here? or maybe it's just me making a busy schedule..

Changes around the Kimler house..

This Tuesday,
I met with a new Endocrinologist here in the Quad Cities.
This is my first endo appointment since I graduated college in
2008.

Yes, I know.. too too long.

However, it was refreshing.
She was nice. Helpful. She let me talk and
explain what i need from her, what I need to make sure
i'm exactly where i want to be with Diabetes.
She helped set goals with me
and together,
we decided that...

...

...

I'm going on the insulin pump.
I feel like I just jumped on a plane with out any luggage..

I don't know.
I have wanted to post about this all week, but I didn't really know what to say.
There's so much going on in my head.
I've been the kind of Type 1,
that gives themselves injections 3-4times a day,
I have to wait 4 hours after my insulin wears off to eat again
(which will make my life easier NOT to have to do this)

I know my friends and family don't care
but I've HATED having to be the person to either not eat
with everyone and feel bad because it's not time yet,
or everyone has to wait for me until I can.

I also hate having to eat when I'm not hungry because it's been 4 hours
and if I want to eat with my husband
I have to eat lunch at certain times.

I'm nervous. I don't know anything about it,
i feel like I get it and have to jump right into it without any time
to manage it before working.

When I got diagnosed, It was summer break so I didn't have to worry
about needing time to figure it out.
I have to go straight into work the next day.
I have a feeling I'm going to forget my name
i'm going to be so overwhelmed.

This I know.

I'm happy though, I will have much more flexibility,
i'll have better and tighter control hopefully, and
It might just make my life a little easier.
and my husbands, because now he won't have to wait for me until
we can eat.
PLUS, hopefully NO MORE COLD DINNER.

If you are on a pump, know someone on a pump and want to share
ANY information, Please feel free to share
WHATEVER you want!!

Thanks for listening

where's my hard work going...

Sometimes I feel like stranger in my own body
when I know how hard I work at
keeping my bloodsugars
within a healthy range and then no matter
how hard I try, or
what things I change
I continue to feel discouraged..

case in point

1. I started to drink protein/boost drinks
in the am to help keep my morning bloodsugars lowers,
because they have been running super high
and I can't figure out why it is happening.
It's not what I eat. It's not stress.
It isn't how i'm sleeping.
I. do.not.get.it

Hopefully my new endo can help. But I don't get
to see her until Tuesday.
And as of Jan 2nd this was the earliest I could see her.

2. I hate taking more and more insulin, to eat
three slices of bread for dinner
(well I made pizza out of it)
and just tea with splenda
and regardless my am bs is STILL HIGH.
I.give.up
3. Yesterday, as I went to pick up my insulin from my
joke of a  awesome pharmacy
they proceeded to yet again
give me my insulin from
the flippin racks.
Maybe I'm just SUPER
anal regarding the fact that I want my insulin to come straight
from the fridge. And it didn't.
I told them is this the new protocol for insulin and that I am not happy with this
can I fill out a comment card..
maybe some other explenation happened too.
Then what does the pharmacist say?
As rudely as one human can,
He sighed so ALL the other people in line could hear him
and said, "FINE, I'll give YOU ones from the Fridge"
as he roughly threw my existing insulin boxes
on the counter.

Why does it take 3 times and reminders and comment cards
for people to realize they shouldn't
mess with a Diabetic's
insulin?

Does anyone else have this problem? So am I the only one who doesn't
have a mail order pharmacy to use.
UGGHhh...

Sometimes no matter how alone you aren't, this disease can
make you feel it, when you don't have answers
and people don't seem to listen.
