Dedicate this to my other half..

No one has really asked this yet,
but
this blog is SUPPOSED to be about
US.
As in me AND my husband.

I guess I've pretty much taken over this blog,
and posted things that
yes involve us,
but
I never really give a complete shot out to the man behind everything.

As we met in 2004 but started our relationship in 2005
this man has pretty much
been my everything.

We've experienced so much together.

College, Classes, Projects, Europe Trips,
Different Apartments, Graduations,
Diabetes Diagnosis, Mumps, Jobs,
Wedding, Buying our first home,
making new friends,
just to name a few....

We've learned so much about ourselves, about eachother
and today,
as he is in Chicago with his best friends,
and I'm here, taking care of myself, our Kahuna bear,
and the house (stuff)
I think a
i.love.you.you're.the.greatest.thing.ever.to.happen.to.me

is in order.

With out him, I wouldn't be me.
Rather, it's our husbands, our wives, daughters, fathers, mothers,
sisters, nieces or nephews...(the list could seriously go on forever)
it shouldn't take much for us to
thank them for all the things they do for us.
both big and small.

Well this is a big THANK YOU
to my dear husband.

My life is WONDERFUL because of you.

In another way of saying how much he means to me, here's some photos
of us throughout the years.. some old, some newer..

On our wedding day, dancing together.. silly as always..

Us after a late night working for me, and in our first apartment together.

Us in 2007 in  Venice, Italy on one of our trips. This was only a few months before
my Type-1 Diagnosis. You can't tell here, but I was already getting sick, and losing weight
in part of the class symptoms. Okay enough about me, more about him.

Check out that handsome man... This was on the top of the Eiffel Tower

Us on a date night, here in our 1st home.

Handsome...

Thank you Kid (this is OUR term of endearment)
for all you do for me...
I love you.

BIG THANKS (Update)

I am elated.

I knew trying to get more involved in my
current community with
diabetes
would bring different emotions.

Mostly "coming out" if you will,
putting myself out there for people to label me
as a diabetic.
Not that I haven't been diabetic
for almost 4 years now
but i'm putting myself,
my diabetes, my diabetes management
out there for people to read about
and
even if I am nervous about it
I'm happy.

Why?

Well today I saw something I haven't felt before.
I logged into my
JDRF walk page to find
I have now raised $707!!!
That is exactly $200 MORE than
my goal.

I'm blown away at the support,
not just financial,
but the people that WANT
to make a difference.
The people who took time, to look at my blog,
to read and look at my table with information regarding Diabetes,
or who asked me my personal history with
Type-1.

I'm excited to know, people care and want a cure
just as badly as I do.

I was in pump class today, preparing for it by learning all this
stuff, most i already knew.
(Thanks to you fellow Pump/DOC bloggers)
And after feeling being ripped apart lately by CDE's,
Dietitian's or other medical staff
I felt happy to know
I'm working at keeping my
A1C down and my numbers in good check.

I know I might have a few weeks yet to see my results of the
hard work I have been doing, but we're shooting for under 6. Cross your fingers.

But really, THANK YOU
to all those Type-1 supporters. You're not only helping
ME, personally
but all of those who live with it, care for it and
are scared of it.
Together, we can fund for the cure.

D life, not E life,,

Diabetes life is not an Easy life..

I've been having those days, and well,
weeks
when all day i feel low, when i'm not
don't feel low until

BAM

you fall over,
all of a sudden your dizzy,
your sight seems a little off,
you right hand is started to shake and you're not using it
you lips go numb
you feel this overwhelming
earthquake within your body just about to BLOW

uggh..
I hate it when you can't do anything but shove your
face and your numbers go up like 3 mg/dl.

SO ANNOYING
I'm excited to see what is happening before i feel
like the way i do right now,
but seriously

I wish people that don't understand how difficult
diabetes can be,
can take my shoes on a day like today .
I'd bet they'd want THEIR body back.

on to another test and probably more
glucose tabs..

...(fill in clever title here)....

This post is some-what of an
update-news-busy-felt bad i didn't blog in a while

So, nothing is going on really,
however everything is?

Does that even make sense?

I feel like so much is flying right by us,
yet i feel like 1 day is 6.

I just finished my two weekends of
fundraising for the JDRF Walk to the Cure
and I'm pretty excited that i continue to
exceed my goal.

This is my first year, and as i feel
many as all the diabetes
challenges I am going through this year.

Along those lines,
I am not the holder of my Medtronic Minimed Paradigm Pump.
It's all glory in it's blue-ness!!!

Along with that, 3 months of supplies, and
about
every single book you can imagine
Oh and my new meter.

Get this people: I had ONE meter for almost 4 straight years.
In the past 2 months I have had now 3 more.

That's CRAZY!

I'm happy to start this new journey in my
Dlife,
however, all of these doctor appointments each week,
ARE
a little draining.
Like monday, i forgot to call in my blood sugars
from thursday to monday.

I still haven't called.
I'll do it on Thursday, tomorrow.

I love my Endo, but I feel a virtual
"spanking"
for not calling.

Hopefully next time i'll have more to say!
Hope you are all enjoying this
BEAUTIFUL weather and pray this weekend
is NOT what they are predicting..

rain with a wintery mix.
BARF...

Diabetes 365

As some of you may know from a previous post
I am attempting the
Diabetes 365 project
by taking a photo every day
related to or something to do with my diabetes.

I seem to never forget to find someone, or want to use this
and here it is.

I'm almost one month in and can't wait to
find out what
all happens in month two!!!

You can see my flicker account

in case you're curious..
here's some photos..

Thanks for reading!

Just in case you care to know..

Pump.. Pump it up...

Pump up the jam
pump it up
why you're feet are stompin

Anyone else get the Salt n Pepa in your head now?
 I hope so.

Not that i'm jumping up and down
per say
but I did get news today that

MY PUMP

This one to be exact
including the color

is what I will be wearing.. Soon.. very very soon.

Medtronic has been calling me all week letting me know
the status of my delivery
the price
and how this delivery will go.

I will be getting my 3month supply,
the CGM sensor's as of right now I will get 3 months
but I will have to only get 1 month supply at a time
why,
who the heck knows..

I think it's stupid. But who am I.

I'm happy for flexibility,
and i'm semi- terrified.

I know why I need to do this, I know this will help
but knowing that I don't mind using my
Humulin and Novolog
doesn't bother me.

I'm the person that HATES things on my skin.
Band Aids- No
Wraps- NO
Stickers- NO
Tape- Hate it

I do not know how I will deal with not being able to pull it out,
but I need to do this and I will.

We'll see how long it lasts.

Either I really enjoy it
and my fears are swept away
or i do it for the sake
of trying it
and after a period of time
I stop using it.

I really don't want to stop though
because the money involved to make this happen
and trust me I"m not making millions over here

means i really NEED to do this.

Okay Body.. let's give this a try!

I find out soon, hopefully, when my start up week is
and pray for me this works, and
i'm not too miserable.

when you talk and people don't listen...

So in the preparation of the pump
I have been tirelessly
writing down
every.
single
thing
I'm
putting in my body.

ANNOYING.

So as I am happy to follow through with this
and write everything down like
a good girl
I go in to see the dietitian.

I'm not sure if i woke up on the wrong side of the bed,
she was a little too "rough" for me
or what
but let's say I didn't feel too good
having her rip my food charts to
pieces.

She made comments about this, that,
why I have 1% milk and not Skim,
or how did i judge Grinder's bread
compared to my fiber rich super low calorie bread at home.
Or why did you give your banana 15g of carbs here
but here you gave 11g?
And then proceeded to ask me multiple questions
on why I don't measure using a scale.

ugghh..

I'm pretty sure I chugged my bottle of water and then refilled it
in the hall so i stopped myself from talking
as I was getting annoyed.

She then seemed to get the hint as she told me
that maybe she is misunderstanding me.
She then told me i need to lower my breakfast
amount to 30g of carbs for breakfast
all while getting an egg, milk, fruit and a whole grain.

DIABETICS, please tell me HOW YOU DO THIS.

I'm mean, i'd have to eat like a flippin rabbit.

Sorry. All of you wonderful non-diabetics,
look at your breakfast tomorrow, just check out the carbohydrate count and
think to yourself
if I can only eat 30g what can I eat.
So much for my 42g of Fiber cereal for Breakfast.

Sorry for the rambling. Sometimes it's soo easy to feel that
someone with out diabetes is
picking all of your hard
work apart.

Then the dietitian proceeded to tell the Pump Educator
that she doesn't need to really see me again because
I am doing so well.

UGGHH...Really?
